Alpha Chi Omega's philanthropy is Domestic Violence Awareness and we at Theta Omega have a special place in our hearts for the women and children affected by domestic violence. We work closely with the Sojourner Truth House, a shelter in Milwaukee that is devoted to helping women and children affected by domestic violence and breaking the cycle of violence with prevention and rehabilitation strategies. The ladies of Alpha Chi help Sojourner Truth House in a variety of ways: we volunteer Saturday mornings at the Children Shelter, sit on the planning committee and volunteer at Sojourner Truth's two largest fundraisers their Fashion Show and Brewer's Wives' Tailgates, and participate in the Milwaukee area's Walk A Mile In Her Shoes charity walk.
Domestic Violence Awareness Week
In October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we host DVA Week. This week is devoted to spreading the facts about DVA to Marquette. In the past we have brought in nationally-known speakers including one recently featured in Marie Claire Magazine. This year we rounded it off with the "Dodge Domestic Violence" Dodgeball Tournament, which was a big success!
Healthy Relationship's Week
During the spring semester we host Healthy Relationship's Week. This week looks into how to celebrate every relationship through speakers, discussion panels, and our Mr. Omega Man Pageant. People wait all year for this event that has men representing student organizations compete against each other in casual wear, talent, formal wear, and a question and answer segment about their relationships and how they act like a gentlemen.

Whether we are raising awareness or funds, Alpha Chi Omega's cherish our philanthropy and its mission to women and children here in Milwaukee.
